3rd Annual FVLC Labour Day Picnic attracts hundreds
Labour Day 2012 - Kids enjoyed the bouncy castles and over 700 visitors enjoyed the hot dogs and corn on the cob at Mill Lake Park in Abbotsford at the 3rd Annual Labour Day Picnic sponsored by the Fraser Valley Labour Council and the United Way of the Fraser Valley.
Face-painting for kids and clowns making balloon animals entertained the crowd on the hot and sunny Monday with labour and community organizations setting up their tents featuring lots of free give-away items.
Labour Council Executive Board Member Tamara Weber, a BCGEU member and the Council’s Director of Communications helped organize this year’s event. Together with Labour Council President Brian Harder, they thanked all the volunteers who joined together to put on the picnic and acknowledge PSAC, USW 2009, UFCW, BCGEU, COPE 378, IBEW 258 and BCTF for putting up their union tents.
A big thank you goes to Tamara and the United Way of the Fraser Valley for arranging all of the community groups who also set up their tents at the picnic!
In an email sent to supporters after the event, President Harder wrote “...and we’re already getting ready for next year!”
